Your hosts, David and Paula moved to Cherry Cottage in August 2015 to escape the busy city life in attempt to pursue a more honest, pure and self-sustainable organic lifestyle. David originating from both Australia and Portugal and Paula from Finland there were many steps on our way to Aldeia Fundeira. We have previously lived in Finland, Norway and the UK where David worked as a structural engineer and Paula in areas of art. Despite being relatively young, in our mid-thirties, we decided to give up on our career ambitions in favor of a simpler country life. This idea and dream had been at the back of our minds but the actual decision to leave everything behind was quite fast and impulsive though not having regretted it.
David and Paula share their love with nature and animals. We own a lovely female ball addicted Jack Russel called Moshi and five chickens with a personality and charisma of their own. David is road cycling fanatic enjoying his time best on the bike. David has experience racing in elite level cycling competitions and knows his way around the mountains which makes him an ideal companion on the road. You can follow David' cycling on his strava account. Paula loves all things related to art and with an education in fashion design and is now designing homeware products. She likes to discover the nature by hiking and running with Moshi and so she'll be happy to arrange local hikes for the guests. In addition to sport activities our perfect day consist of attending of our vegetable garden, cooking, playing with Moshi and enjoying the Portuguese sunny weather. With Cherry Cottage we want to share this peaceful way of living with others, an opportunity to step outside the city frame of mind and retreat into the relaxing country side.
